Audition Videos

You need to submit a single video that contains the following elements:

  • Slate (this is where you tell us your name, your age, the part you want, and that you are auditioning for The Little Mermaid, Jr.
  • Your singing audition (around 30 seconds of a Broadway song in the style of The Little Mermaid, Jr.)
  • Your dance audition

Our production team has created a “General Audition Info” video to tell you all about the process.

Singing Audition

Please record yourself singing 16 bars (or about 30 seconds) of you singing a song in the style of the show. Please do not sing without accompaniment—we need to hear how you match pitch to the song you have chosen.

To find a backing track for your song, we recommend going to YouTube and searching for your song with the words “Karaoke” or “Minus Track” or similar.

For example, here is a search for Under the Sea Karaoke.

Pick a song that is in your range that showcases your singing ability. We love it when you pick songs from your favorite Broadway or Disney shows, but it can be any song you want.

You probably won’t be able to play the music on the device you are using to record your video, so you’ll want to have a computer or other device close by (with the volume up) to play the song.

Dance Audition

Please record yourself performing the dance audition as instructed in the dance audition video. You can use this YouTube video as a backing track. The portion of the song that is in the dance starts around 0:26 which is where this link starts the video.
