Rodney Forman
“Rodney Forman, a great-great-grandson of Herriman’s founding father Thomas Jefferson Butterfield, has deep roots in the community that shaped his life. His family’s legacy is intertwined with Herriman’s history, with his grandmother, Lucy Elizabeth Butterfield, marrying William Henry Forman and establishing their family in the town. In 1957, Rodney and his family moved to Herriman to help his grandfather, a decision that profoundly influenced him. As a third-grader in a four-room schoolhouse, Rodney quickly embraced the town’s rural lifestyle, working on local farms and his family’s small farm, where he developed a strong sense of hard work and dedication to others.
In 1970, Rodney was drafted into the military during the Vietnam War, serving in Germany, where he was joined by his wife. His service solidified his commitment to serving others, a value that he carried back home. Rodney’s involvement in the community is extensive, having served as Herriman Towne Days Chair and as a member of the Lions Club. In 1999, when Herriman officially incorporated, he was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission, helping guide the city’s development.
Outside of civic duties, Rodney built a successful plumbing company, demonstrating the same work ethic he developed in his youth. He continues to contribute to the community through his involvement with the American Legion and various church callings. Despite life’s challenges, Rodney finds strength in his deep sense of gratitude, both for his family and the rich history he’s helped to shape in Herriman.”
